A second Steyn City kitchen design by Adolf Conradie of Optima Kitchens has been selected as one of eight finalists in the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year competition.

Adolf designed this kitchen in collaboration with homeowners Christo and Irene de Wet, who wanted a contemporary kitchen to match their modern, new home. Taking inspiration from the latest design trends, Adolf combined white, high gloss cabinets with a striking, 5 metre long kitchen island adorned with Caesarstone Piatra Grey countertops.

“Throughout our projects at Steyn City we’ve used Caesarstone extensively because it’s a really fantastic product and we love working with it,” says Adolf. Christo confesses his favourite part of the kitchen is the huge Caesarstone island, “It really takes centre stage in the space”.

Bielle Bellingham, editor of Elle Decoration; celebrity chef, Reuben Riffel; creative director of the Expresso Morning Show, Bradley van den Berg; Mor Krisher, head of product design for Caesarstone International; and former Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year winner, Beth Haynes were the judges behind the selection of the eight finalists in the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year competition.

According to Bielle, the judges selected this kitchen as a finalist because it was a bold choice, “It’s simple; it makes a statement. I thought the planning was quite intriguing. It becomes the centre stage from which to perform your masterpiece.”

This week's competition finalist will be featured on The Home Channel and the Caesarstone South Africa YouTube channel. The winning kitchen designer and homeowner will win R50,000 each and a luxurious KitchenAid hamper at an exclusive awards ceremony held at Tokara in Stellenbosch.
