Caesarstone presents: Altered States by Snarkitecture

Welcome to Altered States, a Caesarstone installation designed by the New York-based collaborative practice Snarkitecture.
Showcased within the faded grandeur of what used to be the Palazzo dell’Ufficio Elettorale, the installation guides visitors through the immersive experience of a conceptual kitchen island – the hub of the modern home, where we share experiences, host and entertain.

'Altered States' calls visitors to reconsider the primal elements of ice, water and steam and their connection to the everyday rituals of the kitchen island, such as cooking, gathering, entertaining and working.

Presented as a playful series of interactive landscapes, the courtyard installation encourages visitors to interact with the various states of water while moving through an archipelago. Each island is constructed from a unique Caesarstone colour; Vanilla Noir, Alpine Mist and White Attica.

Under the cupola of the interior space, a large circular kitchen island made of Caesarstone White Attica is conveyed as an arena for performance and interaction, inviting visitors to discover and engage with the multiple functions of the island. A landscape of cylindrical pedestals, constructed from metal mesh and a monochromatic gradient of Caesarstone’s Metropolitan Collection - Cloudburst Concrete, Airy Concrete and Rugged Concrete - form an amphitheatre surrounding the island, further highlighting its centrality to a collective experience.  Read more >>

About Snarkitecture

Snarkitecture is a New York-based collaborative practice established to investigate the boundaries between art and architecture. The name is drawn from Lewis Carroll’s The Hunting of The Snark, a poem describing the “impossible voyage of an improbable crew to find an inconceivable creature.”
In its search for the unknown, Snarkitecture creates architectural-scale projects, installations, and objects. Snarkitecture’s work focuses on the reinterpretation of everyday materials, structures and programs to new and imaginative effect. With a conceptual approach centered on the importance of experience, the studio creates unexpected and memorable moments that invite people to explore and engage with their surroundings.
By transforming the familiar into the extraordinary, Snarkitecture makes architecture perform the unexpected. www.snarkitecture.com
