Caesarstone Gearing up to Name Kitchen Designers of 2014

On 2 October, friends of Caesarstone will gather at The Test Kitchen for an intimate awards ceremony where the 2 category winners will be announced.

Caesarstone annually invites South African kitchen designers, architects and interior designers to enter their kitchen design work from the past year. The entrants must submit photographs, plans and elevations for the judges to examine, and each kitchen entered must feature Caesarstone material in order to be considered.

“We love getting an overview of what’s happening in kitchen design in South Africa through this competition,” says Caesarstone South Africa’s marketing director, Trevor King. “We believe this competition provides a platform for kitchen designers to shine and to showcase their work to the world.”

The 3 finalists from both the Luxury and Comfort categories will be Caesarstone’s special guests for the day:

Luxury Category:

  • Jon Case, AA Interiors, Cape Town
  • Beth Gillitt, Kitchen Classics, Durban
  • Murray Loder, Country Kitchens, Ballito

Comfort Category:

  • Vince Muir, Holly Wood Kitchens, Cape Town
  • Nicola Mansfield, The Design Department, Cape Town
  • Kim Hansen, Kitchen Classics, Durban

The winners from each category will win R50,000 each, as well as print and online media exposure. While VISI and House & Garden magazines will be featuring spreads on the competition, Media Village Productions will produce a 5-minute television insert that will appear on The Home Channel and The Expresso Morning Show.

Liz Morris, editor of House & Garden magazine, will be representing the panel of judges at the awards on stage as she provides feedback and commentary on this year’s entries. Competition judge and producer of Top Billing, Bradley van den Berg, will be in attendance, while judge Nico van der Meulen of Nico van der Meulen Architects will be out of the country and unable to attend the awards. A full complement of the established design and décor magazines will be in attendance, as well as top architects, kitchen design companies and some luxury foodie brands.

“The Test Kitchen is the perfect venue for this event,” says communications manager, Lisa Aspeling. “What better way to celebrate excellent kitchen design than with an extravagant luncheon prepared in South Africa’s top kitchen!”
